Manage that brand

Brand loyalty begins with recognition.  A strong brand is easily recognizable. Recognition starts with the name of your business. The name will appear on your letterhead, business cards, social networks, website, promotional materials, products, and pretty much everywhere in print and online to identify your company or your company’s products and/or services.

As your brand becomes more recognized, your reputation becomes imperative.  Your reputation via word of mouth in small towns such as Tolland is extremely important, but during those low times of business your online reputation is vital.  How is your brand reflected on Yelp, Google reviews, Facebook reviews, Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List?  Keeping up with all of these can be a daunting task, but those that are able to manage their brand through these online resources come out ahead and are the local growth engines of our economy.

Most of all keep your promises. Although this is common sense, you’d be surprised how many small businesses damage relationships with their clients by failing to keep their promises. If you say you are going to be at my house between 2 and 2:30 for an estimate, be there between 2 and 2:30 or at least call and tell me you will be late.  Happy customers who feel good about your business are your best source of referrals.

Social media management – ever ask yourself “what the heck is Snap Chat?”  There is always something new popping up when it comes to social media.  It is an ever-changing landscape and the folks in Silicon Valley will never stop confusing us all with the endless supply of apps to somehow connect us to each other… for better or worse.  But, with that said, management of social media is again imperative to your brand.  If there is an app and someone can post something about your business, they eventually will and your business needs to be prepared on how to manage this.
